Charley Shimanski

Director of Training

Charley Shimanski has dedicated 35 years to rescue mountaineering and helicopter rescue with Colorado's Alpine Rescue Team. With hundreds of rescues under his belt, Charley has contributed to rescue education and disaster response as the Education Director for the Mountain Rescue Association (MRA) and President of the Air Rescue Commission for the International Commission for Alpine Rescue (ICAR) and Mountain Rescue Program Coordinator for Colorado Flight for Life.

Charley also served as Senior Vice President for Disaster Services at the American Red Cross in Washington DC, working closely with FEMA and the White House, as he personally led the American Red Cross response to large-scale disasters like Hurricane Sandy, and supported the response to the devastating earthquake in Haiti.

Charley has authored helicopter training courses which have now served over 10,000 students worldwide.

His wealth of experience and leadership in the field enhance our team's capabilities.
